Felix Felicis

There is officially one week left in my exams and God knows what I wouldn't give for a bottle of Felix Felicis :). Yeah you guessed it, I just read the sixth installment in the Harry Potter seires. I didn't really enjoy reading it the first time but now when I re-read it, I think its a great book. Although I'm really mad that Dumbledore died, I think he'll be back and Snape is definitely on Dumledore's side. What I can't figure out is who took the real Horcrux. Who is this R.A.B ? My money is on Regulas Alfred Black, Sirius Black's brother but lets see what happens. Anyways I definitely need your prayers and don't worry, if I get my hands on some Felix Felicis, I'll definitely share it with you all, the people who are going to give exams and the ones who are going to get their results although I sure hope none of you ever need it.
Okay friends thats it for all and yes a very Merry Christmas to all fellow bloggers who celebrate it.

Exams are coming

Just after writing the title, I've gone totally blank. Things like have I studied enough, is my preparation complete, have I missed anything are circling in my mind. While these thoughts continue to haunt me day and night, I've started receiving wedding invitations from different friends and relatives and with exams right around the corner, I don't know what to do. Dare I say it but exams bring a sort of excitement in our my life. Yesterday, I came across two school students, discussing O' levels chemistry, moles and bonding and all that stuff and I got so nostalgic. It was as if yesterday when I did my O' levels. Time passes so quickly doesn't it. Anyways just watched Spider-Man 2 and something that Peter Parker said hit me right on the head. It went something like this:
"You can't imagine how complicated a thing like reaching somewhere at 8 o' clock can become"
Wow. I couldn't have said it better. Seems so true whenever you get late for uni/office.
One more thing thats been bugging me these days. The day a students pass Intermediate, they head for preparation centres. Whats that all about. Aren't the colleges preparing them enough. There was a time when people studied themselves and got admissions. Also considering the amount of people passing every year, isn't there a need for another university. Not everyone can afford to go abroad, or take admission in universities like FAST, SZABIST and LUMS. And not everyone is a genius to get admissions in the likes of KU and NED. So what are the rest of the students supposed to do. I heard that KU has banned admissions in Masters to people who do not have a Karachi Board background of Matric and Intermediate. This means you are clearly discouraging people who want to do O & A Levels which is definitely far better than Matric & Inter (No offence to matric & inter students). Take O & A Levels as an example of how easy it is to get educated. You can give O & A Level papers anytime after 13 years of age, there is no restriction of doing O Levels before A Levels. I know its a bit expensive but believe me its worth it.
I know this post has been a bit random, but I've got exams and I'm sure all of us have been down that road sometime in our life.
Okay friends, thats it for now, keep bloging.

What's in the Name

I was browsing diffrent blogs, passing through streets of blogistan and I noticed something. The habit or need of bloggers to chose an identity different from their name. I mean your name could'nt be that bad that you are afraid to use it on your blog :) and I know that is definitely not the reason. The main reason is privacy. Where some people would happily put their names on their blogs to get recognition, some prefer to stay in the dark and blog. Afterall putting your name on your blog can make you available on certain Google search results. Most people I have seen use their initials as their nick. Take me for example, No not M.E., me as in I, no not I, I as in Saad, oh forget it :) You see it does get confusing sometimes. Consider the following

Suppose a friend from blogistan calls you up. F is friend & U is you

F: As salaam u alaikum. Is this U ?
U: Walaikum as salaam. Yes this is me. Who are U ?
F: No, I'm not U, I'm G.
U: Oh Gee. How are U ?
F: No, I'm not Gee, I'm Geee
U: Oh so you are Geee. Which one. Geee M or Geee H or just Geee
F: None of these. I'm just Geee.
U: Oh J(ust) G(eee). How are you ?
F: No not JG, just simple G
U: Yaar this is getting seriously confusing, just stick to blogistan and leave a comment or do a post and I'll find out who you really are.
F: Good idea. Allah Hafiz
U: Allah Hafiz

Good Bye

Alright people, its that time of the year again. Exams are right around the corner and its time to say bye bye to blogging and hello to studying. I won't be blogging almost all December (Don't get excited yet, I may post once or twice). InshaAllah will try and post as soon as exams end.
I want to share something that happened in the bus last friday. Firstly, as usual there was no space inside so I had to stand at the door, and the winter air hitting your face (well you get the idea). Another person right beside me, who had been pushed many times by other passengers had this to say:
"Yaar batao kaisa waqt aagaya hai, Karachi waloo ko Karachi main paoon(feet) tak rakhnay ki jagah nahin mil rahi hai. (He had only one foot on the stand at the door). Apnay hi shahar (city) main hum ko dhakkay khanay par rahay hain."
And this was said in such a funny manner that it brought smiles to all the people standing there. I'd say it was a great beginning to a great day.
Okay people, see you in January, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you.

PS: The bird bites:)

December

The month of December starts tomorrow. Another year nears its end. The month of December, for me, brings 3 seasons with it. And this has happened for the past 3-4 years. Firstly the season of winter, which I simply love. The chilly air hitting your face on the bus-stop, Never wanting to come out of that warm bed, The cold water hitting your face when doing ablution for fajr prayers. I always wait for winter to come. Then there is the wedding season. Its been happening for the past 2-3 years that most people I know get maried in December and they are such close relatives that I cant afford to miss these weddings.

Exams

I think you people already now what I'm gonna say. I think the heading says it all. Sadly this post isn't going to be a rant ( Although I was so looking forward to write one :) . I'm just writing to wish everyone goodluck for their exams. I know how important they are for our future, our career and for our life. Time passes away very quickly and after a while only regrets remain, If only I had read that last chapter, if only I had more time to study, if only I had 10-15 more marks I could have made to a better college / university. We don't realize how precious the time, that we have now, is. We aren't getting any younger and the time that we have now will never come again and it is how we manage this time today which will determine our future. Everyone says that school / college / university years are the best years of one's life but these are also the foundation years for our tomorrow. I pray that all of us who have their exams or are going to appear for them pass them with flying colors. I pray that we are able to pass the exams of this world and are able to pass the exams of the hereafter. Always remember impossible is nothing. I have seen people who barely passed their first year of O' Levels get B's and even A's in their O' Level papers. I have seen people who barely scored 1.5 GPA score 3.0 and 3.5. all it takes is a bit of hardwork. I know this sounds a bit unrealistic but believe me truth is stranger than fiction. And I'll discuss the other side of the picture too. People who are studying to become CA's (Chartered Accountants) are the best example. If you know someone who's doing CA then you know what I mean. The pass percentage of CA's is 2%. It means no matter how good you are, only 2% of the people appearing in exams will pass. Imagine giving a great paper, scoring many correct answers but still failing. Imagine the frustration. Yet I see people trying harder and again and again and eventually passing. There is nothing bad in failing or repeating as long as you don't repeat the same mistakes again. I pray that may all of you pass all of life's endeavours and never give up, I pray that life never lets you down, I pray that all your wishes come true, I pray that you become what you want to be. Study hard because it is what counts. Imagine yourself 30-40 years from now, sitting with your grandchildren, telling them about life's experiences. The experiences that you are going to share with them depends on how you spend your life now.
Ok people thats it for now, I know this post was a bit boring for some of you but what can I say. Thank you for bearing me.

PS: Following is something I read on the back of a bus

Sapairoo nay sanpoo ko iss liyay qaid kar liya
Insan ko dusnay kay liyay dost hi kaafi hain

Thought provoking, isn't it ???

Weekend

This weekend was the same as usual. Boooooooooooring. Isn't there anyplace a person could hangout. Most people I know are having their exams and I really do feel sorry for them. I mean when do exams end anyway, first its quizzes, then mids and then finals and the break that you get between them is spent studying. Just think how many things you have missed because of these exams. Weddings, parties, gettogether with friends and all that stuff. Although deep down inside I know its the right thing and the things I just mentioned won't make my resume sparkle but still I miss those great school days when you could just study for those mids and finals and that too happened only once a year which brings me to another thing. Is semester system good or were the good ol days of school better when exams happened only at the end of the year ONCE. I had a discussion on this with a friend and according to him semester system is better coz we learn more, our knowledge gets tested often plus the burden is less coz you don't have to go through the whole years course but just of the past few months. What do you think ?
Anyways watched Paycheck this weekend, its a nice movie. I always have been fascinated by time travel and knowing about the future so I liked the movie and I would definitely recommend it. I know its an old movie but I usually dont have time to watch the movies as they come out.
The season of quitting blogging is on and one of the great blogger friends I know has a suspicious post up (Yes I'm talking about you VL). Please dont quit. Plus I was really gloomy when PG left and it took me a while to figure things out. Anyways right now all bloggers are accounted for, although they aren't posting that often but I'd say its a relief that atleast they are still there and not thinking about quitting. ( Yes all of you are not thinking about quitting, now repeat after me, I will not quit blogging).
Anyways friends that's it for today. Keep smiling :)

10/8

On 10 October people of Asia experienced the worst earthquake in centuries. Buildings collapsed, people died and the worst happened. But in the days to follow we saw the spirit of the people. Who said we are careless, we dont have any humanity left in us, go to PAF museum and find out. The sight there is enough to make you cry. The people of Pakistan and specially of Karachi have come out to help the victims with everything they have got. You can see relief camps everywhere, people are collecting food, clothes and medical supplies so that it can be sent to the victims.
On one side you see this great picture of Pakistanis but wait till you see the other side of the picture.
  • The prices of coffin cloth went up from 150 to 1100 after the quake.

  • People were found selling the stuff collected for the victims.

  • The stuff collected for the victims was found to be stored in different warehouses for selling.

I ask you that wasn't the quake enough. People are saying that it was Aazaab from Allah, I would say that it was just a warning. I think it is time we realized what we are doing and mend our ways before it is too late. Already there are rumours that Karachi is under the threat of a Tsunami.

Let us pray that this tough time passes away quickly, let us pray for forgiveness and let us pray that may Allah protect us from all evil. (ameen)

Loss

My heart goes out to all those who have suffered a loss in the 'earthquake'. Let us pray that may Allah give them the courage to bear this loss. I pray that none of you bloggers in the affected areas got hurt nor did any of your families. Let us pray for our forgiveness.

Friends Never Say Goodbye

Saw Road to Eldorado this weekend. A great movie, one of my favourites, simply superb. The characters, dialogues, animation all are tooo good. Also saw the Runaway Jury based on John Grisham's novel by the same name. The movie was good but they totally changed the issue on which the case was based but all in all a nice movie. Coming back to Road to Eldorado, if you haven't seen it, go see it now, its a must see. Anyways it seems as if the month of blogging has come because I see many bloggers posting much more often than they used too. Its kind of good as now there is always a new post to read, to comment on. The month of Ramzan is also coming which means that I'll be posting less maybe not at all in Ramzan, but I sure will be commenting so you all should keep on posting.

Met some long lost friends yesterday and had a great time. Remembering the good (not so) old days is so much fun. Had a blast. But you know what, I dunno why but the meeting made me sad when I was hoping to be happy. Hmm.. Really odd.

PS: You can never have enough prayers. I am always in need of them. I thank everyone who prayed for me. Everything is okay. I'll explain more later. Anyways everytime you are praying, just drop in a little one for me too. I would be utterly grateful.

This year, (I think) I have matured as a blogger, I definitely have made a lot of friends, and I love coming into blogistan for commenting or posting or just for reading the different blogs. This blog has made it through this year only bacause of the people who visit it. I thank all of you whose comments have given life to this blog. You don't know how much I am encouraged by the comments you people give. From posting monthly or even a post in two months, I've tried posting daily (weekly) all because of the response given by you people. (you know what...It would make a great last post chain post if I say goodbye right now :), but I think VL did a great job with her post, making it so believable by giving her contact and everything. I just hope NJ also did a really believable last post by deleting her blog and one sunny day we will be able to access NJ once again. Anyways thanks again friends / bloggers for the kind words and for the traffic. Take care and Happy blogging.

Blog Day

Yeah Yeah. I know what you all are going to say. Blog day has long gone. But what can I do. I have been a bit busy lately and as I get time I post. I want to thank Shirazi for taging me. I am not going to pick the best 5 as I know I won't be able to do justice as all blogs are so good that it is really hard to choose. Here are the blogs I like in no particular order:

PG: A brilliant blogger who believes in quality rather than quantity. Don't really know how many people she has inspired into blogging, yours truly being one of them. Every post covers something new and is thought provoking. If you haven't visited her blog yet then GO VISIT NOW. It's like "Jo Gaya Nahin, Woh Jamaya nahin". (Yeah I know too much TV is bad for me).

NJ: Truly NJ in every meaning of the word. A great blogger, no doubt one of the finest. One of her talents is writing as well which shows in her blogging style. Don't know why she is quitting. It really is a great loss to the blogging community. (Why must the good die young)

VL: What to say about VL. Her unique and beautiful templates have conquered almost all blogs in blogistan. A blogger with a great sense of humor which reflects in her writings and you can't leave her blog without a smile.

Gul: A blogger with a very unique style of writing. Her blog recently completed a year and it was a great year too, filled with beautiful and funny posts with some of her poetic creations. A blogger whose posts keep getting better with time.

Dr. SG: The doctor is in the house. A doctor during the day and a superhero blogger during the night. This blogger shares her hospiltal experiences through her blog. Some are very interesting while others bring tears to the eyes. A blog with different moods. A must visit.

Scrapzilla: A Pakistani dude in America and missing home a lot. This blog covers all emotions felt by people who are really homesick, who are really patriotic and who are really funny. A very unique and desi style of blogging. One blog you don't want to miss out on. (wannabe Superman)

Tee: The blogger who started with a bang. One post after the other, she was posting daily. But now it seems as if josh thanda hogaya hai. Anyways lets see what happens.

Shirazi: What to write about him. This man will definitely break the blogging record. With a post a day, covering various topics, his blog is always active. A gazillion posts and even more links, this blog is here to stay.

G3 Tech News: This blog is your one stop for all technology news. Covering news and reporting it as it occurs. Although a bit down these days but it wasn't long ago when there were atleast 5-6 posts posted daily on the blog. A must visit. This is the blog from where I started blogging. My personal blog came quite a while after that.

Teeth Maestro: The tooth fairy or The Mollinator. This blogger has taken the responsibility to unmask the evils of our political system. No one and no thing misses his sharp eye. With a touch of humor, his posts are a must read for every Pakistani.

And last but definitely not the least:

SHA: Do not visit this blog. If you do then I will not be responsible for the consequences. (addiction to the blog etc :)

I know I have missed out on a lot of blogs but that is only because I donot have words to express their greatness. All blogs are equal to me and I visit every one of them (the ones in the I Visit section) whenever I get time. I donot comment but be assured I do visit.

Nothing to write about

I have come to the phase that a blogger hates most, the phase where you don't have anything to write about. You are sitting there staring at the monitor with an absoulutely blank mind. I dislike it when my favourite bloggers (the ones mentiones in the "I Visit" section) don't blog for long intervals. Visiting these blogs has become a part of my daily routine. I dont comment on some because they have blogger comments which take forever to load. Similiarly, I don't like it when I'm stuck here with nothing to blog about. But now as I have started writing and (luckily) the weekend has just passed, I'll talk about my weekend. I re-read Harry Potter 6. Please don't read the next paragraph as it contains spoilers. Start from the one after it.
First of all what was the need for killing Dumbledore. I mean is it necessary to always kill the person the readers like. First it was Cedric then Sirius and now Dumbledore. Why doesn't Snape die. Coming to Snape, which side is he on anyway and is Dumbledore really dead. The seventh book is really going to be a blast. And book six seemed more like a romantic novel than a childrens fiction book if you know what I mean.
Anyways a good weekend isn't complete for me without a good book and a good movie. I watched Shawshank Redemption. It is a great movie. A must see. I would say no movie could tell you more about not losing hope. A great movie indeed.
I watched The Matrix for the thousandth time maybe. And the same question came to me. What if we really are trapped in the matrix ? or what if we aren't ? Is there anyway of knowing ?
What started as nothing to write about came out to be quite something. (Must write more posts like these :).

PS : One more thing, I'm writing posts and comments in the most haphazard way possible. I think thats a phase too.

HELP

I need some help regarding tariff rates of different service providers. No, I'm not buying a mobile connection, this is what you would say research. Anyways I want to know how much it costs if you call from PTCL to Mobilink, Ufone, Warid, Telenor, GO CDMA etc and vice versa. Plus I also want to know PTCL's rates for international calls, rates of calls made from Mobilink to Mobilink, from Ufone to Ufone and so on and their rates to call to other service providers. I also want to know how GO CDMA is going these days and would it be wise to shift from PTCL to any LDI or WLL provider. Being a I-live-on-the-internet kinda guy, I thought you people have the right to help me first before I go out and talk to people in person :). Anyways no pressure, if you can help, well and good otherwise no problem.

PS: I want these tariff rates in layman terms coz I never understood the tax thing and other hidden charges.

Monday

A new week begins today. I never liked Mondays that much when compared to Friday. The thought of getting up and starting yet another hectic week doesn't have the same charm it had when I was in school. Waking up on Monday, thinking of a long week ahead full of quizzes, assignments and other challenges life throws at you. Compare it to the good ol' school days when the most dreaded thing you could think of was homework which could be done from your school books & you didn't have to search the internet or go through the library, when you only went to the library in your library period and could read books like The Hardy Boys or The 3 Investigators without a care in the world. Where have those days gone ? Man I miss those days. When you could watch cartoons all day long on weekends without worrying for that big test on MONDAY or that big assignment due next week. When you could think of skipping school by just faking sick but now even if you are sick you go coz you have to or maybe coz you want to (NERD Alert!). You don't wanna miss uni coz of the workload that would pile up or maybe a quiz could be taken or maybe if you stayed home you wouldn't have anything better to do than to think what would be happening at the uni at this very moment. The weather was so good today that anyone would have wanted to skip his/her uni/job and go out, but life has something else in store for us. and everyone went with their routine life. I read somewhere that if we began to live life our own way then it would hurt a lot of people, that if we followed our heart instead of our brain then we would be happy but people around us won't be. It just depends on us, what matters to us more.
Anyways good luck to all of you and may this week and all other coming weeks bring all of us joy and happiness. Sweet Dreams and Happy Blogging.

Return of the King

No this isn't the Lord of the Rings. I just thought this title seemed catchy :). Anyways, as most of you know by now I didn't quit blogging and don't plan to. So here I am. Don't really have much to write about today. So lets start with the weather (the universal conversation starter). The weather today was as good as it could get. It rained a bit in the morning for like two hours. I watched "The Pirates of the Carribean" today and its a great movie. Go watch it. I read Harry Potter 6 last saturday and am dying to discuss it with someone who has read it. So go read that. I'm tagged to do an independence day post which inshaAllah I will do tomorrow. I think all of us should put up an independence post so I tag all of you to do one. Anyways baqi raavi chain hi chain likhta hai.
I would like to ask all those bloggers who don't have RSS to please put it up, coz it helps greatly in checking if someone has updated or not. I would also like to say that from now on, if my creativity fails me (or in other words I dont have a worthwhile comment), I would just write "SHA was here" to show that I did visit and I suggest you people do the same. It boosts up a bloggers confidence. So heres me signing out. Take care & Happy blogging.

The Last Post

Yes, you read it right. Today on this rainy day, I write my last post. Due to unknown reasons I have decided to discontinue blogging. And with a heavy heart I write this post. I have enjoyed every second of my short stay in Blogistan and I would be amazed if I am able to forget any part of it in the coming years. I have made new friends, friends I have never met, have never seen, have never talked to, yet they seem so close. I want to thank each and everyone of you for making my experience full of happy memories.

Spider ( formerly Spider.tm), the blog from where I started commenting.
G3 Tech News, the blog from where I started posting.
H., my inspiration to start a personal blog.
VL, whose posts have always made me laugh. She can lift your mood in a matter of seconds with her posts and comments.
NJ, the procrastinator.
Teeth Maestro, whose unique style of reporting news is unmatched.
UITians, a blog by my university fellows.
Gul, the flower of the world.
Shirazi, the master blogger.

I would also like to thank everyone who linked to me and who has mentioned me in any way on their blog. Thanks to Shirazi, PG, VL, NJ, Gul and everyone else.

Forgive me If I missed your name. I hate goodbyes, but I didn't want to leave without telling you guys.
Happy blogging people & remember me in your prayers.

Rush Hour

Aoa people. On ThursdayI had, what I would say, the worst experience of my life of travelling in a bus. Here is how the story goes [ the speed of "the bus" is very very slow unless I say so ].
I got on "the bus" from Cantt Station. It took "the bus" 90 minutes to get from Cantt to Saddar. "The bus" was going so slow that if it had gone any slower it would have been going in reverse. This is not it. Read on.
Now to shed some light on the atmosphere / environment of "the bus". "The bus" was non-AC. Maybe ten or twelve people were asleep. Two different mobiles were ringing continuously, one was of the guy who was asleep and other of the person who really wanted to talk very loudly. "The bus" was as crowded as it could be, but strangely the conductor managed to push more people into "the bus". Everyone was sweating so much that, if I didn't know better, I would have been sure that it was raining. Then as if things couldn't get any worse, two babies started crying and well you can imagine what I felt with all that noise plus the noise of the traffic. This is not it. Read on.
As "the bus" crossed Saddar, it picked up speed (meaning that now it was moving). After 15 more minutes, the conductor announces that this bus would go no further than where it was and everyone should get off. I didn't ask why coz those who did didn't get an answer. Now I'm standing in the middle of what I would call nowhere. I don't know which bus goes from here to my place coz "the bus" took a different route due to traffic jams. This is still not it. Read on.
Somehow I got into a bus which took me to another place where I got into another bus which finally got me to my place.
The journey took about three and a half hours. Three and a half hours wasted in a bus ride that takes 45 to 60 minutes under normal conditions. This extreme case happened to me for the first time. I'm sure many of you would have been in similiar situations. So share your worst experience of a bus ride.

PS: I know this is another post on buses but what can I say. I'm travelling a lot these days.

Rain

I don't know about other parts of Karachi but it rained in my side of town. Started at about 1 in the night I think & continued till 5. Electricity was gone as soon as the first drop fell but I still enjoyed it. I had missed the smell of rain on "mitti", & now I enjoyed it fully. Really was fun. And the weather in the morning was really cool. Hope it rains in the day now.

Its Aliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive !

Yesterday my internet said its goodbyes & left me stranded in the middle of sending an email. I knew it would happen someday but so soon, I wasn't really prepared for it. But right now as I tried to open google expecting a "page cannot be displayed", the site opened. And here I am. Anyways now I realize how much the internet plays a part in our lives. Almost all business everywhere in Pakistan broke down. Emails had to faxed by companies, callcenters fired their employees because of the internet breakdown. This lets us to think that shouldn't there be another gateway in case something like this happens again.

Sleepin in the Bus

Have you ever fallen asleep in a Bus. It seems so odd. Apart from the noise, the pollution & the uncomfortable seat, there is always the feeling of insecurity, of strangeness, of sleeping in a foreign place.A few days ago, I travelled in a UTS series bus. It was very much crowded and I had to stand at the back of the bus during the whole trip. Since I had nothing to do, I started looking over at the other passengers. The AC was on & the weather inside was quite good. I noticed the most unusual thing. I have seen people sleep in buses but this was a sight to see.Almost 70% of the people sitting on the seats were asleep. That is about 15 people.and you wouldn't believe how mad one of the passengers got when the conductor asked for his ticket. It was as if he was there to sleep. I couldn't stop smiling the whole trip seeing those people sleep so soundly, falling here and there, waking for a brief moment then going back to sleep after adjusting themselves. It really amused me.and the interesting thing is that I started yawning but before I could get a seat, my stop came. I never have slept in a bus.How about you ?

Another Chain

I know this is getting kinda weird, but believe me not all my posts are going to be answers to the different chains floating in Blogistan. I will inshaAllah post something different. Anyways, I got tagged by VL [ I think ].

Total number of books owned, ever:
I really don't know, maybe over a hundred.

Last book I bought:
Beginning Java 2 by Ivor Horton.

Last book I read:
Blogging for dummies geniuses by G3nu1n3, H., VL :). Well not exactly, last book I read would be Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix. I am a only-buy-a-book-when-you-dont-find-it-online kinda guy. So I do most of my reading on the PC & last eBook I read was The Partner by John Grisham & it was a great book.

Five books which mean a lot to me:
  • The Holy Quran:

  • Do I need to give a reason ?

  • Qasus-ul-Anbia

  • I haven't read this book but I have heard much about it, & have heard many stories from it from my friends. It contains stories of different Prophets.

  • Harry Potter 1, 2, 3, 4, 5:

  • I wasn't much of a HP fan and was ignorant of Harry's world, It was not until I saw the first movie that I got curious and got the books and now I'm a die hard HP fan. One thing I noticed is that in Harry's world you can call a girl a witch and she won't get mad, rather feel proud on being called a witch :). Waiting anxiously for the sixth episode which is coming out on 16 July.

  • LOTR 1, 2, 3

  • I saw the movie first and it was so good, I had to read the books.

  • The Da Vinci Code

  • Great book, a must read for everyone. This book made me read all of Dan Brown's work & all of it is great.

  • Recommend a book/author[one of my own]:

  • J.K Rowling, Dan Brown, John Grisham

I tag G3nu1n3, Pseudo Genius, Aay Deeand everyone else who read this post.
And here's a special offer for my Blogistan friends, if you need an ebook(academic, fiction etc), just tell me & I'll try and find it for you

    HOT HOT HOT

Its boiling here in Karachi.I don't know what to blame it on, my deeds or global warming. It is so hot today. Add the weather to a 10 min walk to the stop plus a 1 hour ride in the bus & you'll get the idea. I'm so much praying and hoping that it would rain. It has been so long since it rained heavily in Karachi. And I just love the smell of mitti when it rains.
    God I hope it rains.

    Why Blog ?

Why do I blog ? Why should I blog ? Maybe I want to know if others also think that I'm (not)normal, maybe I want to communicate with more people, maybe I want to share my ideas & thoughts with people of the virtual world who don't really know me, maybe I'm using a lot of maybes today. I came to blogistan by way of the Spider blog. Most people I know in blogistan, I found them through the same blog. I used to just comment on the blogs of other people but sometimes I had more to say on the topic but couldn't because then it wouldn't have been a comment, it would have become a post so I thought of starting a blog and posting my thoughts there. But now I realize its not as easy to write as it seems and maybe I'm a better blurker than a blogger.
Anyways I think this is not going anywhere so here is my link to the "If I could be.." thingy

If I could be a mime:
    .................

If I could be a doctor:
I would try to find the cure to every incurable disease and I would definitely ban smoking.

    If I were a linguist:
I would translate as many books in as many languages as possible.

If I could be a videogame designer:
I would create the best videogame ever, a combination of Mafia, Splinter Cell, Metal Gear Solid, Max Payne etc.

Now for one of my own
    If I could be genie:
I would be no ones slave and you would get just one wish coz I don't believe in second chances.

Now I pass this "If I could be.." to everyone else who hasn't got it yet. And I would also like to pass one of my own which goes like this:
"If I had one wish, I would wish for...."

    Here's my answer
World Peace - Nah, too cheesy
Lots of money - Nope, too greedy
I would wish that every wish that I make from now on should come true. :-)

Blogs - not permissible in Islam

Going to websites like these will not be permissible, because they contain personal matters and also they specify names/identities which can create a path for bay-hayaai (shamelessness), and unlawful relations, and It is a source that may leak out the faults/kharaabiyan "aayb" of muslims. The month of May

Ah the sweet month of May signalling the end of Spring and the start of a beautiful Summer. Yeah Right.May and sweet, surely.May is probably the most dreaded month of the year.Almost everyone has their exams, tension, hope, desperation & failure..all these can be seen in the eyes of the people around you.Last year in May, I fractured my leg...long story, will tell it later.Anyways this year May has brought more sadness to me than happiness. My best friend is immigrating to Canada & ain't gonna be back for 3 three years, plus this is my last semester in uni so that has me down too.Four years is a long time and now when you think of it that all that time is going to end in just a few days....well you get the idea.
Anyways on a happier note, I've decided to try and blog weekly if not daily, and I owe it to this person. So you can thank/blame her for this.Ok then, thats it for now.Take care people.

Falling ill is one of the worst things that can happen to a person living alone in pardes (foreign country). From our childhood we have seen...
