Zendagi migzara :)

I apologize for the looong absence, I know none of you are visiting my blog so that really is an incentive to update :P So here it goes...

I am on my leaves these days and have suddenly realized that what and how much I was missing. I caught up on family (never had much friends so no need catching up :P ), on books, on games and... on LIFE :) And since this blog was is a part of my Life so I thought of updating it too. Well... actually I had thought of updating it quite many times but as usual didnt have anything to write about (I still dont so you still can close the window and save yourselves from getting bored :P ), a close friend insisted that I update so here I am :)
After what seems like an eternity, I read some books, good books and it felt so good, so nice to read again. I played games with my younger brother on his PS2 and it really felt good ( I lost on ALL the games though :P )
I watched a few movies and I watched Lagaan again. This time, however, I was totally immersed in the movie. I really felt sad when Tipu got out, felt what could happen if WE dont win, felt as if all was lost when Kachra couldn't hit that sixer. And I really felt happy when eventually it rained, rain always does me happy :)
The year is coming to an end and when I look back on it, I feel really happy. I helped out a lot of people, did some good deeds, made people cry (thats not what I'm happy about), discovered that I can have a very loud voice :P, made a really good friend and lots and lots more. What amazes me is that time has gone by so soo quickly. I remember as if it was yesterday and 2006 had started and now 3 days to go and we will enter the year 2007. Seems so... unfair. Life has become so hectic, so fast that we dont even have time to relish the moments that we should, to care for the people that we should, to stop and soak ourselves when it rains (and not be worried about getting home quicker). Two-three days back, a friend asked "How goes the enemy?" and its so true. We really have become so soo busy and time really has become our enemy. There was a time when every weekend, I would go out with my brothers, my cousins, kids from the neighbourhood and go and play cricket in the scorching heat or shivering cold and nothing could stop us (well except school and homework and mom and and and... well you get the idea :P )
Life went by at a slow pace, we relished and savoured every moment (well except when we had exams, that is when life kinda stops and doesnt move atall :P), speaking of which, please pray for me as I have my exams. It's so unfair that my exams start when everybody is free of them, its so NOT FAIR but then... so is life.
A relative of a fellow blogger passed away, a fellow blogger, Sheza, left blogging. All I can say is "Zendai migzara" i.e "Life goes on". As harsh as it may seem, that is all that it comes down to. People come and people go, we keep on living, we must keep on living because, sadly... zendagi migzara
I pray that may Allah forgive the departed soul and grant him a place in Heaven. And for all the bloggers that have left, I'd say that keep blogging, no matter if its just a few words a year :P
Take care of yourself my friends and keep blogging :)

I'm back.. again :P

After many ermmm.. gentle reminders from my friend Zee, I'm back with yet another boring post :P
These days I'm really busy, unlike some people :P. NO, thankfully I'm not giving any exams but I pray for those who are going to have them. May all of you score really really good in your exams and pass with flying colors.
Nothing to write about these days, my routine has become so hectic that it's become hard to notice other things. The weather has changed though. It's really cold in the morning these days specially at 0500hrs. Yes I wake up at 5 a.m in the morning :P
Eid passed by, surprisingly my lil' cousins asked me for eidi this time. I mean it doesnt qualify a person to give eidi if he/she gets a job, does it ??? :P
Haan, if he/she gets married then its another case. So anyone who wants eidi, knows what to pray :P (and these are the words of a friend, not mine :P)
Although Eid-ul-Azha is a bit far away but people in our mohalla have brought bakras (I know its called goat but it doesnt just seem right :P ) and gayains :) and you can hear their errmmm sounds at night and during the day too :P
Thats all for today my friends, I hope it satisfies SOME people and they take the label of being... (dare i say it) "lazy" off from me :P
Take lots and lots of care friends, dont eat out these days with the fever spreading, eat healthy foods and save some for me too :P

Brush up your spelling :)

Today was quite an interesting day. I was at the Dawn Spelling Bee today and it was very exciting. The children were so well prepared and the anticipation and enthusiasm on their faces was very exciting to see. Specially when it got to Sudden Death for the decision for second place :), that was quite tough. It was a great experience. I'd say do visit the competition and see for yourselves how talented these children are.
I know this seems like a very random and incomplete post but my internet is playing tricks and I want to post something before it dies completely :)
Take care and keep blogging.

The FLU!!!

Atishoooooooooooo !!!!
Yup, thats what's happening this weekend. I've got a very bad flu. atishooooooo. yup thats how bad it is :).
The weather has finally gotten to me. I mean I was waist deep in cold rainy water and nothing happened, I was outside soaking wet almost everytime it rained and nothing happened. And I had to catch flu the easy way, came out of the shower and atishooooo. One small sneeze and it began. Now not only do I have a bad cold but a fever too. Thank God it's the weekend coz I can't imagine going like this to the office. Pray for me friends that I get well soon. I tell you, having a flu is so boring, just lying there on the bed, sneezing like crazy. Stay away in case you catch it :)
Take care fellow bloggers, atishooooo. :D

RAIN!!!

Oh My GOD!!! There was soooo much rain last night that I am simply unable to explain it to you in words. There was so much rain, so much rain that everywhere you looked, you could see only water. Let me tell you from the beginning about what happened to me yesterday.
It started to rain really heavily around 4, my office gets off at 5, I left the office with another colleague in his car and we had 3 other colleagues with us who lived on the same route. When we came on the main road, there was so much water and it was raining so heavily that believe me it was impossible to see what’s just two feet away. The journey to my home from my office usually takes around 2 to 2.5 hours. I’m a bit bad with names of places and addresses so I actually don’t know which route we took, but whichever way we went, the only thing that was visible was water.
After traveling for about 2.5 hours we had completed 25% of the journey & that is when we had the adventure of our life. We took a seemingly right turn, which turned out to be very very wrong. Water started to fill in from under the doors of the car and we were sitting in waist deep water in the car and then the car’s engine stopped. Three of us jumped out of the window because we couldn’t open the doors as more water would have poured in. We then started pushing the car, which was floating actually and we were in about waist deep water while we were doing this.
The main danger to us at that time was of broken electricity cables, because we did hear that people got electrocuted in the same area, where we were pushing the car. The other seemingly less dangerous thing was the danger of open manholes & while pushing the car we were also hanging on to it incase anyone of us dropped in one.
I don’t know how to tell you this but it was nothing short of a miracle that the car started afterwards and if anyone saw a car in which 3 people were using glasses to throw water outside from the car then that was us :)
We decided to go to another colleague’s house near our office, we got there at 11, stayed the night there and I got home at 7 in the morning today. You can imagine how high the tide was by the following picture that I took from my cell during the journey (the lightning was bad and don’t u dare say anything about my cell’s camera :D ) and yes this is a road, NOT a river.

And incase you were wondering, I still LOVE rain and I enjoyed myself yesterday :D

Ouch!!!

You wake up, offer your fajr prayers, find out that there is still enough time to get a little nap :) You walk towards your bed and this table, that has been there for ages, jumps into your way and you hit your right foot on it. Next moment, you're sitting there with a broken nail hanging just by a bit of flesh and its bleeding and paining really really bad. Goodbye little nap, goodbye happiness :(
I don't know why, but for the past 2-3 months my feet have been getting hurt a lot. I mean first it was the fracture, then i accidentally hit that same left leg on my bed post, than this nail thing and now since my right foot hurts so much, i started putting more stress on my left leg so that right leg doesnt hurt and guess what, now my left leg hurts again where it fractured :(
Pray for me friends, I simply don't know what's happening.
Anyways, I think its just a part of life and the funny thing is, now I've started walking while looking at my feet, knowing where they are going, so that I "accidentally" dont bump into things, although I still suspect that that table jumped into my way and I didnt hit it by mistake :)

And I'm so hooked to Independence Day songs these days. It's either Maula, Dil Dil Pakistan or Yehi Zameen (Junaid Jamshed) or Aay Jawan (Awaz) or Dil Se (Haroon) or old numbers like Iss Parcham kay sayay talay etc :) It's so exciting to hear these songs again, seems as if I'm falling in love with my country all over again. Aik ajeeb sa josh hai :)

And for NO reason atall, I'm listening to the following one too:

Dil ka nagar ab basay na basay
Karliya faisla muskurain gay
Ghum hain hazaar, uljhanain bayshumaar
Par koi ghum gusar ab nahin chahiyay, haan nahin chahiyay
Ghum uthayain gay aur mukurain gay :)

Yaad aayay jo dard ki raat main
Jiss ki baat ho apni har baat main
Chehra woh koi ab nazar main nahin
Aisi koi haseen iss shehar main nahin
Rah guzar main nahin
Na hai intezaar aur na hum bayqaraar :D

The first person to guess which song this is gets virtual chocolates :D

After the Rain

It rained heavily in Karachi and when I say heavily, I mean heavily and since a picture is worth a thousand words, folllowing are a few thousand words:

A view from above:

The NEWLY built underpass at Schon Circle & yes its full of water

This isn't a river, it's a road and can be seen when the water isn't there

Now you see, how high the tide is :)

And it keeps getting better and better

Nothing to write about

You know what ? Now that I'm out of uni life, I'm kinda out of topics to write about. Although I dont remember any of my posts being about uni life but still, I think a person has a lot of time on his/her hands when he/she is in uni but after that you dont actually have time for anything. I only did these few posts last week because I was at home, resting, with nothing else to do. And today I'm postng because I really felt like posting something.
I'll start with the golden days of blogging, when the people I knew posted regularly or atleast commented regularly. If there wasn't a post at one blog, then there surely was one at the other or atleast one of them. Tags flew around, everyone came up with something or the other to tag the rest of the bloggers and blogging went on. But since the ban, many bloggers dropped out of blogging, many dont update for ages and many just don't update at all. And amazingly enough, there isn't any new blood coming up like before. So many bloggers emerged out of nowhere in the old days :)
Coming to the shadi season, I got a chance to miss 2 valimas and 1 wedding due to the bomb blast on Friday. Karachi is facing terrible times, I hope and pray everything gets back to normal soon. I've got to attend a wedding this Friday too and I'm out of excuses :). Any suggestions ?
I was telling my brother to start preparations for school because I thought they were opening today and guess what, Schools open after 14 August. I mean is that a long vacation or what. I dont remember us having such a long vacation. Its totally not fair :( And I'm sure all of you would agree. Compared to schools, universities dont even get the whole of June-July off and I'm glad that its not just me going out in the scorching heat, its all of you people too :D
I remember the first day of a new semester, meeting friends after a long time, meeting the teachers, taking a careful look at the timetable to see which periods could be shifted to maximise our break :). Those were fun times but now when I think of it, all times are fun, you just have to know how to enjoy life. With a smile and a positive attitude, I think there's nothing that can stop us :)
And with that I end this random post :). Take care friends, keep blogging & keep smiling.

And hey it rained yesterday, well actually it was just a slight drizzle, but the smell of earth when it rains, the feeling u get when drops of water hit your face, it was simply wonderful :)
So happy first rain of the season to all of you out there :)
I think thats all for today, take care and keep blogging friends :)

Rain rain come again !!

Did you read this:

Heavy rain floods Lahore’s roads

I mean WOW. Here we are in Karachi, under the hot sun, this sizziling weather, and no rain atall. And not so far away in Lahore there's so much rain !!!
What have we done to deserve this ??? Wait.... dont answer that :)
Staying at home in this hot weather really bites. You cant go to the beach, plaster might get wet, you cant go outside and play cricket or soccer for similiar reasons, stuck at home with nothing to do. Friends have office so no one online and those who could come online are being stopped by KESC or by their evil evil cablenet walas :D
And having a cast in this hot weather, is so much fun :)
Anyways hope all the rest of you ae enjoying their holidays although the weather really is very hot. I so much hope it rains.
Take care friends

PS: This may seem like I've posted just for the sake of posting something but its not, I've posted because i felt like posting something, errr.... I just posted because I got jealous after reading about so much rain in Lahore :)

PPS: I know i'm making no sense at all but do I ever :D

Down but NOT out

As salaam u alaikum friends
Yes I'm back, for how long I dont know but still, it feels good to be back. People usually blog when they have time on their hands or when they have exams on their mind :D
I think I mentioned on this blog that I had a fracture sometime ago in my leg. Well today I'm going to tell you how it happened :D I know it sounds icky, but dont worry there are no gruesome details :D
Anyways, it was a hot day in April, some 2-3 years ago, I was out with friends playing cricket at Safari park. Yours truly hit a sixer and the ball went flying into Safari park (we were playing in the parking area). I went inside, threw the ball out, and then dunno why, jumped from the fence which is some 8-9 feet high. I landed on uneven ground and well... it resulted in a hairline fracture in my left ankle and I was out of action for about 6 weeks with a plaster on my leg and me lying in bed. At the time i fell, my leg sweeled to the size of a football and well... it was a funny sight :D
How does the above relate to present day ??
While crossing the road, and stepping down from the pavement, I stepped into a hole in the ground, my left foot twisted really badly and behold !! I'm sitting here with torn ligaments in the same place as my last fracture, I have a plaster on my leg and I'm out of action for atleast 3 weeks. The moral of the story..... while crossing the road, look on both sides AND look below too :D
Thats all for today friends, pray for me that I get well soon and also for a friend k that person always meets success.
Goodbye and take care

Nostalgia

Yeh daulat bhi lay lo
( Daulat ?? wht daulat )
*looks around to see no income tax ppl are around :D
Yeh shaurat bhi lay lo
( Yeah right !! Kaunsi shaurat. Who knows me anyway ? )
Bhalay cheen lo mujh say meri jawani
( Ahem ahem. No comment !!! )
Magar mujh ko lauta do bachpan ka saawan,
woh kaagaz ki kishti, woh barish ka pani
( Okay, if the above means the good ol' days of O' levels and University then its a done deal )

I had my convocation rehearsal yesterday, and i'm soooo nostalgic right now kay bus. It was soo sooo much fun and yet I felt sad at the same moment :(
Those days were the best, although there was this tension kay kahin aaj quiz na hojayay, Exams are around the corner and i've done no preparation, yeh wala course kaisa pass hoga etc etc. But yours truly somehow passed and got 3rd position in his bachelors degree.
Although the tension was there but in a weird way those days were carefree. No worries about jobs and this and that. Everything was so cool. Ahh.. how I miss those days.
My advice to all people going through university life, enjoy it people, although these years are the building years of your life but still, remember they dont come back, so enjoy them as much as you can :D
And I know that i'm posting after a long while and its sort of a weird post coming from me but what can I do, i've made a weird friend :P
Another advice, ( and this one's free too :D ) dont start blogging when other blogger friends are having their exams, coz then there's no one there to comment :D

I'm back

Yes people, believe it or not, I AM BACK. it took me long enough but i realized that blogger really is the best and you cannot fool yourself into thinking that you can shift onto something else. So ban or no ban, i'm going to stick with blogger. I dont know, if it'll be the same, with most of my blogger friends leaving blogging or shifting to non-blogspot blogs, but lets see.
The thing that urged me to come back is the return of other famous bloggers. I just saw that S.G has update dher blog, so that is a wonderful surprise and I also saw some of the "older" bloggers coming back, so here I am.
Its that time of the year which people fear, yes it's exams season and thankfully this time I dont have exams.
*starts chanting "i dont have exams, i dont have exams" :D
I wish all of you people out there who do have exams, i hope all of you pass with flying colors and make your parents proud :D
Best of luck and all the best to all of you.
take care people

The journey continues

Dear dheet Faithful reader
Yours truly has shifted to livejournal and the journey shall continue at livejournal from now on. The address is the same except a change only in the host which is now livejournal instead of blogspot.
I may shift back to blogspot when it opens or I may just stick to livejournal (although I'm thinking of leaving livejournal right now) but lets see how the wind turns.
Take care and hope to see you on my livejournal blog.
Keep Blogging

Blogspot Blocked

Dear Faithful Reader

If you are accessing this blog from outside Pakistan or from within, this is to inform you that that all blogs hosted on the blogspot domain have been made inaccessible to viewers in Pakistan therefore I will be shifting to some other blog hosting site soon. Although some people have found workarounds of accessing blogs on the blogspot domain, its not the ultimate solution. So suggestions are very much welcome and I would be thankful if you could kindly guide me to a substitute to Blogger

Thank you

Ain't No Sunshine

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone,
It?s not warm when she's away.
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone,
And she's always gone too long
Anytime she goes away.

Wonder, this time where she's gone,
Wonder if she's gonna stay
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone,
And this house just ain't no home,
Anytime she goes away.

Cricket Fever

Okay I know this is way too late to post about it and I'm sorry I've been away for so long but hey, the good thing is that I'm back :)
I went to the stadium to see the first day of the 3rd test between Pakistan & India and the atmosphere was just great. Except for waking up at 0600 to reach the stadium by 0730, everything else was ok. I was with 2 of my friends and we were seated well before the match started. Just as the match was getting started, the announcer at the stadium recited verses from the Quran and everyone in the stadium went quiet but I couldn't believe it, when during the qirat, the umpires and pakistani batsmen entered the ground and the crowd went wild. Showing no respect, they started shouting and howling and it was a bad sight. I know they didn't show it on TV and I don't know if it happens often (being my first time to the stadium) but it was pathetic.
Anyways the day went great, with 14 wickets falling in the day, what more could a person want. The cricket was as exciting as it could get. One odd thing that happened was me getting calls & messages that people saw me on TV during the match. We had ditched two not so good friends to go to the match and unfortunately they saw me too so its sort of a cold war out here :).
To end it all, life has been exciting, although I did miss blogging but I think its slowly getting out of my system.
Take care friends & keep blogging.

Result

Where there are exams, there are results consequences. The result came out and yours truly is now a double bachelor, first bachelor being on account of not being married yet :) and second on graduating. Yup, I've finally graduated, three cheers for me :). Everyone help themselves to some of the most delicious virtual chocolates and brownie points (don't look at me, its what I've been getting :).

PS: I wanted to know how I can make this blog offline, bring down all posts, archives and save it offline. Anyone got a clue ?

Eid

As Eid comes near you can hear the voices of different animals during the day and sometimes even in the night. People become cautious where they put their feet because of you-know-what lying on the roads. Wait until the first day of Eid passes and it will probably get worse.
Anyways this being my first post of 2006, I wish everyone a very hapy new year. a year with hope, with happiness and dare I say it with Exams :) As time passes by, the population of blogistan decreases. We have lost another blogger to the cruel world and although signs show her return, we'll see what happens and I thank her for mentioning my name in her article, thank you very much and hope you restart blogging :)
I just finished reading the first episode in the Bourne series, The Bourne Identity, and it is a great book full of suspense, espionage and thrills that leaves you wanting for more. I know this must go in the Book Blog but I'm such a bad reviewer that I thought I'd post it here :).
Eid Mubarak to all of you in advance, may this Eid and all coming Eid's bring more happiness to all of us and may all the people doing Hajj, come back safely(amen).

Ramadan

Falling ill is one of the worst things that can happen to a person living alone in pardes (foreign country). From our childhood we have seen...
