Post...

I sit here, staring at the blue and white screen. I look at the calendar on the computer table, i re-read the poem "A Day Dream" by Emily Bronte written on the August page. I take a look at the headphones, the bluetooth device, the blue light of the mouse and then I look back at the screen, nothing to write, nothing to tell.

It rained a LOT here on Thursday and Friday. whenever it rains in Karachi, a lot of destruction happens, people die, houses are flooded with water and life is greatly affected. I have always enjoyed rain, I have always been the one to go out in the rain when everyone would just stay back under the shade. I LOVE the rain and I hate it when people blame the rain for this destruction. I think it is the planning, the roads, the management that has gone wrong. Rain is a blessing and it will always remain to be. Rain is one thing that always brings a smile to my face, that always makes me happy, relaxed, calm. Don't you just love the sound of rain drops falling, the smell of earth when it rains, the feeling that time stops when it rains, its simply magical :)

On Thursday, I walked a LOT to get home since the roads were flooded and transport closed down due to the water. I walked in knee deep water and it really was something. Although the cold water sparked the pain in my leg but it was fun, it was so dark and quiet at 9 that night that it seemed like midnight. It was so much fun walking home in the downpour with no one around :)

I went to the Airport today with my colleague to pick his brother. Airports are such an odd place. You really see emotions in effect over there. You see a mother crying, who has seen her son after a long time, you see tears in the son's eyes. You see everyone looking like they would cry any moment. You see people saying goodbyes to their loved ones. You see people beaming with happiness on returning to their loved ones, to their home country. It always is such an experience.

Independence Day is just around the corner. I remember the old days, when I would put up jhandiyaan on my house, wear a pakistani flag shaped badge to school, dressed in white with a green shawl-kinda-thingy. We would sing national songs like jeevay jeevay pakistan, yeh watan tumhara hai, maoon ki dua and the likes. I think it was class five or maybe six but as we grow up, 14 August is just an excuse to wake up late, to enjoy another holiday, maybe people would take a leave on Monday so that they have a longer weekend. Life has become so predictable, so monotonous. Anyways, in case I am not able to post on Tuesday, a very happy Independence Day to all of you, they said we won't even survive a week and here we complete SIXTY years. It wasnt possible without each one of us, the people, PAKISTANIS :)

Take care all fo you, keep smiling and keep blogging :)

To blog or not to blog...

That really has been the question for the past few months. I sit in front of my PC thinking what to write, thinking what to share, thinking and just thinking... and nothing seems to come up and I logout. It has ben so long since I posted or commented on any of the blogs until recently when I finally had some time on my hands.

I cleared all the papers that I mentioned about in my last post. Thank you, all of you who prayed for me, it was only possible through prayers because God knows how well prepared I was. I was actually surprised at clearing my exams, it was nothing short of a miracle. Thank you soo much :)

Life has been really really busy or maybe I've engulfed myself in to it so much that I dont seem to get time for anything. This post is just another one filled with boredom. I think I've lost my ability to blog (if I ever had it). Anyways, this post is dedicated to a fellow blogger. I've posted in tihs week as promised :)

And now I come to the end of this post. I know this one was a really short and meaningless post but thats how it is.

For all the busy people out there:

Sheher ki iss daur mein daur ke karna kya hai
Agar yahi jeena hain doston, to phir marna kya hai
Pehli barish mein train late honay ki fikar hai
Bhool gaye, bheegtay huay tehelna kya hai
Serial kay kirdaron ka saara haal hai maloom
Par Maa ka haal poochhne ki fursat kahan hai
Ab reth mein nangay paon teheltay kyon nahin
Ek sau aath hain channel par dil beheltay kyon nahi
Internet pay duniye se to touch mein hain
Lekin paros mein kaun rehta hain jantay tak nahin
Mobile, landline, sab ki bharmar hai
Lekin jigri dost tak pahunche aisay taar kahan hai
Kab doobte huye sooraj ko dekha tha, yaad hai
Kab jaana tha shaam ka guzarna kya hai
To doston, shahr ki iss daur mein daur kar karna kya hai
Agar yahi jeena hai, to phir marna kya hai?

Keep smiling friends and keep blogging :)

PS: I read Harry Potter 7 and I'm so anxious to put up spoilers on my blog :P

A trip to UK :p

Arey, dont cry my faithful fans and visitors, what the title actually means is a trip to University of Karachi :P
Yup, yours truly went to KU to give my exam. I got off the bus at the main gate and started WALKING, walking, walking, walking and walking. Is the university big or what???
After a lot of walking, i came near the ISPA thingy where they have a telescope I think. There on the left side of the road was a sign that said 25 kms. Believe me I almost fainted. I was like who is going to walk TWENTY FIVE kms but as I came near I saw that it said Speed Limit 25 kms :P (but it did look like that, seriously)
There is a lot of walking required to reach anywhere in the university and now I know why people who go there are so smart and slim and for those who arent, yes I agree with you, the samosas are REALLY delicious :P
Anyways I reached the venue and OH MY GOD, who in this world gives their exam in a tumboo (tent). I'm glad the weather wasnt bad. Fortunately my seat was in a class and I dont think they've heard of gaps between two candidates beacuse the seats were placed like they normally are placed in a class.
The paper ended and I came back home but this trip taught me a lot and being the good person that I am :P, i'll share them with you:
1) Reach the university well before time because you never know how much you will be required to WALK :P
2) Know where you are supposed to go in the university. If it had been not for my best friend, I would still be wandering inside the university, LOST :P (Shouldn't there be a map placed beside the road so that people know where every department is? ). And thank YOU so much for telling such an easy way to get to the venue my friend :)
3) If you're a i-dont-wear-a-watch-coz-my-cell-has-a-clock person, do wear a watch, because cell phones arent allowed and there isnt any clock in the class.
4) Pack a BIG water bottle, because the water that is available doesnt look okay, better yet, pack a cooler and food and a bedsheet, you can have a picnic later on in the botanical garden (and the garden is soo beautiful, its a must see)
5) Dont take G17 or G13 from university back home because both get stuck in traffic or bad roads.
6) This is much of a suggestion. I think they should start chair-lifts like the ones in Murree from the gate or from those two mountains on either sides (ISPA and the one in the botanical garden) to the end of the university (whereever it is). It sure would help everyone. And where did those buses vanish, last time I went there those buses went quite inside the university. By the way, has anyone seen the end wall of the university?? :P

Thats about it for today fellow bloggers. And yes one more thing. Yours truly will be at Karacih University on this Saturday, for another paper, so everyone anyone someone (koi to hoga :P ) who wants an autograph, knows where to find me :P

Take care friends, keep smiling and keep blogging :)

Pakistan Zindabad :)

No its not Independence day or Quaid's birthday or any such thing. Its just that the patriot in me has woken up coz of something.
Today I heard the Pakistani National Anthem after a long loooong time and it really was something. The version played was the one played at the SAAF Games (if anyone has that version then I would be very grateful if you could share it with us). It was so beautifully sung by children, had so much emotion and patriotism that its not possible to describe it in words.
And believe me I got so emotonal, so patriotic and was filled with energy by the end of the anthem. It was simply beautiful, the feeling, the environment, it was just great :)
Listening to the anthem brought back so many memories, the good (not so) old school days, the fun, the friends, everything was so simple, life was so simple, so beautiful :)

"Yeh daulat bhi lay lo
yeh shaurat bhi lay lo
bhalay cheen lo mujh sya meri jawabi
magar mujh ko lauta do bachpan ka saawan
woh kaagaz ki kishti, woh barish ka paani"

I would request all the Pakistanis out there, just listen to the National Anthem, it really charges you up and brings back a lot of memories.
Thats it for now, take care friends and keep blogging :)
